Collapsed area

The areas between the second and the third casemate have been destroyed by the retreating Germans at the beginning of 1945.
The explosion caused the collapse of the arch, and the ground above it has completely filled the areas. From the outside you can see the crater this has produced near the upper entrance of the battery.

The front part of the collapse near the branch leading toward the second casemate which you can just barely see on the left (09/10/1999).

The collapsed area from the side of the third casemate
The main corridor seen looking toward the entrance. On the right the branch leading to the third casemate, on the left in the shadows the steps which go up to the upper living quarters. In the back you see the front of the collapsed area. Notice the cracks in the walls and the damage in the ceiling near the branch. Recently devices have been installed in the angle with the steps to the upper living quarters in order monitor the progress of the dislocation of the walls (09/10/1999).
