Center 19 The upper part of Center 19 which emerges from the waters of the lake. In the wall shown in the photo you can see, underwater, the openings of the north post and of the photo-phonic signal passage toward Center 20 (24/06/1999).

Center 19 is a concrete building located on the upper edge of the Plateau of the Vaccheria ⁽¹⁾.

It was equipped with a photo-phonic signal station for communications with Center 20, and with three machine-gun nests. The one located on the north side protected the Roncia valley and intersected with the field of fire of Center 20, while the two located on the south side protected the Ponte Rosso [Red Bridge] on the old national road no. 24 of Moncenisio and its field of fire intersected that of Center 18.

Center 19, as you can see from the complete absence of vegetation in the surrounding area, is completely submerged by the water of the lake during the summer season. It becomes completely visible again only in the spring when the lake, no longer supplied during the winter season due to the snow, and emptied by the causeways which supply the hydro-electric plants, reaches the minimal level.
